MACBETH, LONG ANSWERS

7. Why did Lady Macbeth commit suicide? Why did Macbeth grow careless of life?

Lady Macbeth, the queen had been the sole partner of Macbeth in all his wickedness. But evil is repaid with evil. Unable to bear the remorse of guilt, the queen had begun to suffer terrible nightmares. She suffered from somnambulism that ultimately led her to commit suicide.

The queen died and Macbeth was left alone without anyone to care for him. Now he had no one with whom he could share his wicked plans. As a result Macbeth grew careless of life and even longed for death.

Summary of the poem "I Can Not Remember My Mother"

I Cannot Remember My Mother Rabindranath Tagore Summary: A motherless child speaks of how his overall circumstances often remind him of his mother, although he can remember neither his mother's face, nor what his mother looked like. He lost his mother when he was just an infant, yet while playing with his playthings he remembers hearing a tune that his mother used to hum while rocking his cradle. When in autumn morning the smell of shiuli flowers spreads in the air and the scent of the morning service in the temple comes floating, it reminds the child of his mother. Even when he looks up into the distant sky, it seems to him that his mother is staring at his face with her deep adorable eyes.             ***********************************
