MACBETH, LONG ANSWERS

2. How did Macbeth and his wife get the opportunity to fulfill their plan to murder Duncan? How had Lady Macbeth developed the art of camouflaging? When and why did Lady Macbeth herself take the charge to murder Duncan? How did her attempt fail?

Returning home, Macbeth told her wife about the predictions of the three witches and also its partial accomplishment. Lady Macbeth was an extremely ambitious woman. She encouraged Macbeth and they together thought that murdering Duncan could be the only way to the fulfillment of the prophesy that Macbeth would be the king of Scotland. The opportunity itself came along. It happened that at that time Duncan came to visit Macbeth’s castle to honour Macbeth for his triumph against the rebels.

Lady Macbeth had already thought of murdering Duncan and was looking for an opportunity. Yet while treating Duncan as an adorable hostess, she developed the art of camouflaging her treacherous purpose with smile and charming etiquette.

Tired of his long journey king Duncan went early to bed. It was midnight when Lady Macbeth woke up to plot the murder of the king. She was well aware of her husband’s nature that was too full of milk of human kindness to execute a contrived murder. So at first, she took the charge by herself.

Armed with a dagger Lady Macbeth approached the chamber where the king was sleeping. She found the king in sound sleep. As she looked at him, she found something in his face that resembled his own father. Hence, she could not proceed and gave up her attempt.

Asleep in the valley Arthur Rimbaud Summary The poem “Asleep in the valley” by Arthur Rimbaud depicts the picture of a young soldier lying blissfully asleep amidst the serenity of a small green valley. A slow stream is flowing through it and leaves long strands of silver on the bright grass. Sun rays come streaming down on the valley from the mountain top. The soldier is lying asleep with his mouth open. He has a pillow made of fern beneath his head and the dense undergrowth as his bed. Soaked with sun rays the pale green bed feels warm. He sleeps with his feet among the flowers and a smile on his face like an infant. His smile is gentle and has no guile in it. The poet asks the nature to keep the young soldier warm because he is afraid that he may catch cold in the open air. His rest should not get disturbed by the humming insects. The young Soldier is asleep at peace in the sunlight with one hand on his breast. But two red holes are seen on one side of his body. They are...
